Question: Let’s talk Bisco Inferno. What’s the idea behind the festival? Answer: We found a bunch of artists that were the founders and premiere artists of electronic music in the different types of electronic music that they made and asked them if they wanted to play. All these dudes playing the show are continuing on their path as artists in one way or another. Q: What do you mean “premiere artists?” It’s a pretty eclectic bill. A: At one point or time they were the Michael Jordans of what they did. We were fortunate enough to assemble a bill that had that kind of vibe.

Visitors said it remains one of the country’s most important electronic music events. In many ways the weekend felt like 2008 Part 2: a four-stage blend of vintage homegrown styles playful party sets and pounding stadium-sized Euro dance music. But as the festival heads into its 10th anniversary next year the vibe is anything but static as Movement looks to embrace electronic music’s next wave. In culture years Detroit’s techno fest is well into adulthood. It’s easy to take for granted just how groundbreaking this event was when it popped up in 2000.
