EDM burning up Indian dance floors

Subir Malik memberof the popular rock band Parikrama says electronic dance music has trulyarrived in India. “I feel EDMis a major part of the system. A lot of people are glued to electronic music notonly around the world but it’s a hit even in India. It has a considerable fanfollowing here” said Malik. EDM is described as anever-evolving plethora of genres styles and sub-styles. Some genres such astechno house trance electro drum and bass are primarily intended to promotedancing. Delhi-based NikhilMahajan has founded Audioashram a company that promotes EDM by providing aplatform to people interested in the genre.

In other words the genre did not spawn the band rather Krarftwerk designed the genre. The first hour of the three hour documentary reveals a history of German experimental and electronic music which led to the formation of the early band rganization which became Karaftwerk. The film reviews the band’s creation and the evolution of their particular and peculiar music and the vast influence it has had on such sub?genres as elecronica dance techno new wave and synth?pop.

The band is thankful for its five years of making music putting out recordings and touring with bands like Deerhoof Xiu Xiu and Mika Miko. The sextet promises via its MySpace page that its future is all about “self-improvement and trying to live life at the top of your lungs living life rightly respecting others making something you’re proud of and trying to sort out all the static and figuring out what matters. ” What that means for you is that the Mae Shi will continue making infectious spazzy electro-punk jams.
