“I’ve always been working in that style of music. There’s a Bee Gees cover on Feist’s album Let it Die ["Inside and Out"] which I’m sort of responsible for better or worse for putting on that album” he says. “And even on my electronic albums the Solo Piano album I think there’s always been this premium placed on the softness of music. “”I think in those days everybody was there to compete for that moment where the hairs on the back of your neck would stand up and you created an involuntary reaction. That’s what happens to me when I listen to the Bee Gees for example. You don’t even get to the intellectualization part. You don’t even worry about the fact they’re these weird hirsute guys with tight pants until you’ve already had the emotional reaction” he says with a smirk.
