Finally Room 3 will see live sets from Iration Steppas Moody Boyz Antisocial and Blackdown & Dusk. Organiser Matt V commented: "I wanted Dublime to incorporate all the music I love which has always been linked to dub in some shape or form. "I feel dub is the heartbeat of all electronic music be it jungle house techno or dubstep. "Lee Perry invented dub and to surround him with artists such as Dillinja Kode 9 and Rusko – this demonstrates exactly what dublime is about. Notions of the icily detached are part of the equation too — the sad remoteness of her lyrics the floating melancholy of her music. Anyone familiar with Cohen or the “Alice Desoto” who led Philadelphia’s the Vels through the New Wave ’80s wouldn’t be surprised by that distance and its flash of tenderness. And when it was over Cohen and her partners Charles Hanson and the late Chris Larkin didn’t look back in anger or silly reminiscence. Cohen a Conshohocken native packed her bags before the ’80s ended moved to Brooklyn created several radical art-rock ensembles (Shag Motor Pony Die Monster Die Espadrille) and visual art all the while laying the groundwork for the prickly Sky Flowers. It would follow two other disappointing online ventures backed by Sony in recent years: Movielink which tried to be the online equivalent of the video store for mainstream Hollywood movies before being sold last year to Blockbuster; and Sony Connect the company’s response to Apple’s iTunes download service which shut down in March. The latest service provided through the online PlayStation Network is Sony’s attempt to stage a comeback in digital entertainment distribution. The maker of the once-dominant Walkman portable music player is still smarting from its defeat by Apple in the online music revolution. “They’ve got to get a win in the digital and I’d say on the electronic delivery side of the business” said Kurt Scherf an analyst with Parks Associates who studies technology in the home. “That’s where the future is. They’ve got to establish a toehold in that space. The latest initiative seeks to harness Sony’s strengths as a maker of high-definition televisions and consumer products as well as a creator of films and TV shows… The latest service provided through the online PlayStation Network is Sony’s attempt to stage a comeback in digital entertainment distribution.
