Cobblestone Jazz delivers thought provoking music
Seattle Post Intelligencer – Feb 27, 2008
Cobblestone Jazz delivers thought provoking music. This search has recently led me to electronic music… I enjoy the build up in their style of electronic music. It doesn’t just start out fast and up tempo. It climbs up the beats-per-minute ladder slowly all the while they are quick to let the song breath introducing new elements and bringing in the spacey house feel.

“It’s like learning scales on a piano” according to Snaith. “You learn the logical framework and then you can forget that and think about things in a more creative way. ”Raised in the rural college town of Dundas ntario Snaith didn’t get into electronic music until he received a tutorial in techno and jungle from his friend Koushik Ghosh who now records hazy sublime beats for the left-field Stones Throw label. Snaith began making his own tracks when he was 14 using a keyboard he bought after convincing his parents to give him a few years of Christmas and birthday money upfront. He improvised when it came to software plugging into his father’s relic of a computer to sequence tracks. “It’s funny how little my method has changed over the years” he says. “I’m still recording things via a computer just little bits and pieces.

Recalling Allen SJSU teacher and sonic outlaw Allen Strange was a master of electronic music and cooking By Gary Singh THRUGHUT the nine years I spent at San Jose State University nobody taught me how to control my voltage more than did Allen Strange who passed away last week at the age of 64. He was a true sonic outlaw which is precisely why we got along so well. ne of the original pioneers of analog electronic music Allen wrote the first textbook on that subject way back in the early ’70s long before synthesizers were ubiquitous. Even today that book is a hoot to look through. Allen always taught us that composing a piece of music and cooking were exactly the same the process. He was probably the best composer of Mexican food that I ever knew. During all the years I invaded and occupied his office there was never a shortage of Mexican food banter fart jokes included.

The weirdest part was hisgirlfriend was on the side of the stage giving us the finger and thenshowing us her breasts. I was like “h my God thisis like David Lynch.
