Pentaport Way Hotter Than Last Year

Unlike friendly K Go the iconic techno duo from England did not say a word on the stage _ not even a conventional “hello” or “goodbye” _ during their performance that lasted about two hours. But it did not matter at all as their truly masterful performance combining mind-numbing electronic music sound with large screens projecting psychedelic images carried the audience across the universe. “I felt as if a UF would arrive here soon” Park Soo-jung a 34-year-old fan who watched the performance said. “The Chems looked like leaders of some pseudo religion communicating with some extraterrestrial beings. It’s so great that I can see them play music live here. ”Those who could not immediately head home after so much excitement danced through the night in the “Groove Session” held at a sub stage commanded by DJs including BT a pioneering American electronic musician.

” He and Zhang Jian who are based in Beijing performed on laptops. Some of these compositions were later released on a CD by Staalplaat a specialty label based in Amsterdam; it sold about a thousand copies. In the context of avant-garde music that’s not bad: “If someone can sell 2000 CDs” Virant says with a laugh “they’re like a superstar. ” So it’s hard to find the right superlative to describe what happened when some of that same sparse music was released again not on CD but in a little plastic box called the Buddha Machine… FM3 was founded in 1999 starting out as “the ambient chill-out band that played in the back room” of Beijing clubs and evolving into a “meditative” sound. Virant had long been interested in the chanting he heard in some Buddhist temples which he discovered was coming from a plastic box. He and Zhang pondered putting some of their own music into something similar; Staalplaat agreed to release a batch and they made their first factory order for 500 Buddha Machines guessing that it would also be their last. Word of the Buddha Machine traveled quickly among adventurous music consumers says Eric Benoit the publicist for Forced Exposure a distributor specializing in a wide range of nonmainstream music which peddles the device through its own site and sells it wholesale to progressive music retailers.
Semaj gives explicit advice

It would be easier if the CDs were labelled. The movies are rated whether it be PG-13 PG-16 or R so too should music. “In the United States and Britain the movie electronic game music cable broadcast television and radio industries have each voluntarily developed clear and informative parental advisorysystems to provide families with advance information on the content of entertainment products. RIAjam confirmsCleveland Browne chairman of the Recording Institute Association of Jamaica (RiaJam) confirmed that CDs coming from Jamaica are not labelled for explicit content. He however said that in a recent meeting with the Broadcasting Commission RiaJam suggested that it should be made a requirement to label the CDs for the benefit of parents as well as radio stations so that violent or explicit content will not be aired to children. “Parents will find it helpful in deciding what is suitable for their kids. It’s important to define PG; that’s the pledge of the RiaJam in spearheading something like that.
Farrell rebounds from losses with Satellite Party
North County Times – Jul 29, 2007
“What Satellite Party is about is pretty ambitious even by Farrell’s standards. For one thing the group’s music represents a significant step away from the guitar-centered mix of punk metal and art rock of Jane’s Addiction. The music on the CD is the work of a wide-ranging cast of musicians: Farrell and his core band —- guitarist Nuno Bettencourt (formerly of Extreme) drummer Kevin Figueiredo bassist Carl Restivo and vocalist (and Farrell’s wife) Etty Lau Farrell plus several notable guests —- two Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea and Frusciante Black Eyed Peas vocalist Fergie and New rder bassist Peter Hook. Then there’s the contribution of Doors singer Jim Morrison. (Yes he’s still dead. ) n the dreamy closing track “Woman in the Window” the singer croons what are thought to be among the last lyrics he recorded before his death in 1971.
